Office Equipment Industry Innovator
With over 15 years of experience in office equipment leasing, including positions at CIT, IKON, PrintInc, and Ricoh, I’ve developed a comprehensive understanding of the Office Equipment Industry. As the founder of Offsite Office Equipment Storage, I built a nationwide transportation and logistics company that has been recognized on the Inc. 5000 list for three consecutive years. Additionally, I am the founder of two innovative SaaS applications, RenewAlert and Titan-8, reflecting my passion for technology and problem-solving in dynamic environments.
-Scott Murr
In October 2010, Scott Murr founded Offsite Office Equipment Storage, leveraging his extensive expertise in the office equipment leasing industry. Under his leadership, the company expanded into a national provider of transportation and warehousing solutions, serving dealers and OEMs across the country. Offsite was honored with a place on the Inc. 5000 list for three consecutive years.
Scott Murr is widely regarded as a leading expert in the management and storage of competitive leased assets that often overwhelm dealer warehouses. His solutions have helped dealers of all sizes eliminate costly renewal expenses and inefficiencies associated with these assets. By adopting Scott's strategies, many dealers have exited the "free copier storage" model, resulting in streamlined operations and increased profitability.
Scott Murr is the founder of Titan-8.com, a cloud-based IT asset management platform designed to simplify the tracking and management of IT devices. Titan-8 provides users with visibility into their assets, including device locations, lease end dates, meter reads, device history, and software builds. The platform also enables users to initiate service calls, upgrades, recycling, hard drive wipes, and logistics services directly from their account.
Many companies struggle to manage time-sensitive tasks, such as lease end dates, insurance renewals, permits, certifications, and filings. To address this, Scott Murr developed RenewAlert.com, a cloud-based software platform designed to streamline the tracking of these critical deadlines. With an active user base, RenewAlert is seeking investment to support further software development and sales efforts.
Scott Murr is experienced in sales training on essential leasing concepts, including how to calculate Cost Per Copy, estimate competitive buyouts, and address common questions like "What is the interest rate?" Without a solid understanding of leasing, sales teams will struggle to close deals. Scott's training also covers pricing strategies and how to incorporate copier storage solutions into new proposals, giving salespeople the tools they need to succeed in a competitive market.
Scott Murr founded WrapMyCopier.com as a strategic initiative to boost new copier deliveries and streamline end-of-lease shipping for Offsite Office Equipment Storage. This solution enables copier sales representatives to seamlessly include custom wraps in the initial lease price, offering prospects a unique, branded copier solution that sets them apart from the competition.
Many dealers have inefficiencies in delivery routes and underutilized equipment, leading to overstaffing of drivers considering 80% of new copier deliveries occur in the last week of each month. To address this, Scott developed a service that allowed dealers, including Canon and Kyocera, to utilize Offsite's Phoenix warehouse and delivery services, providing significant cost savings compared to maintaining their own fleets. Offsite's offerings included full in-box/out-of-box FTL and LTL shipping, unboxing, debris removal, placement on stands, and a climate-controlled tech room for equipment preparation.
Offsite manages an average of 400 inbound emails daily, each tied to assets with serial numbers and strict deadlines. With orders involving multiple pieces and stops, the company tracked over 10,000 equipment movements each month. To streamline operations, Scott Murr designed and implemented a customized operating system on Monday.com, allowing Offsite to efficiently track every order and movement from quote to invoice, improving workflow and overall efficiency. Currently on Monday there are 28 active boards that address every aspect of Offsite's business.
Despite starting with no background in logistics and warehousing, Scott Murr spent four years in a truck, immersing himself in the business from the ground up. During this time, he invented the Etrack Load Bar, which allows for safer and more efficient loading of equipment in trucks, and a Threshold Plate, designed to hold office and elevator doors open during deliveries. Scott also developed and "The Offsite Way," a series of standardized processes that ensures all drivers follow the most efficient procedures, optimizing performance and safety.
Scott Murr managed a fleet of 18 box trucks, 3 semi-trucks, and 4 vans, gaining firsthand experience in the critical importance of complying with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. He quickly understood that every commercial delivery truck must have a DOT number and adhere to all applicable rules and regulations to avoid significant risk. Many dealers overlook these requirements, exposing themselves to potential liabilities, but Scott ensured Offsite remained fully compliant, mitigating these risks and maintaining operational integrity.
I built Offsite's full operating system on monday.com to track over 10,000 asset moves per month.
